A chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies and wound through three counties yesterday afternoon, April 13th, has landed a man in jail. Yesterday afternoon an Osage County deputy attempted a traffic stop near milepost 163 on I-35 for a traffic violation. The vehicle did not stop and took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit traveled mainly through rural areas of Coffey and into Anderson County, sometimes reaching more than 100 miles per hour. The vehicle pursuit ended when the suspect drove down a dead end road and ended up in a field, where the driver got out and fled into a wooded area on foot, with the car catching fire in the field. At that point a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter was brought to the scene and K-9 units, as well as officers from the Coffee, Anderson and Osage County Sheriff’s departments, the Garnett Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.

The suspect, 42-year-old Terrance Wade, of Shawnee was booked for attempting to elude law enforcement by engaging in reckless driving, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer; use of a deadly weapon, interference with law enforcement, a Jackson County warrant, and a Shawnee County probation violation felony warrant. He is being held in the Osage County Jail.
