The Ottawa Planning Commission, in a lengthy discussion about rezoning a property at 9th and Cherry for development of two apartment complexes, one of which would house Ottawa University students, listened to several neighbors in the area give their reason for disapproving of the rezone. Diedre Altic, who lives at 716 east 10th explained her reason, namely streets and safety:
After considering all comments, the Planning Commission recommended to rezone the area to R-2 Medium Density Residential, in order to retain the housing overlay opportunity for future development, the issue now heads to the City Commission for discussion.
