The American Red Cross of Greater Kansas City and Northwest Missouri will recognize Nic Crouch and former Kansas City Royal, Mike Macfarlane for their lifesaving response that resulted in saving the life of 17-year-old Davis Dwight. Dwight collapsed and went into cardiac arrest while taking batting practice at the Mac N. Seitz Facility in KC. His coach, Crouch, yelled for help and Macfarlane came running and was told Davis wasn’t breathing and had no pulse. Macfarlane immediately started CPR compressions:

Couch says he never wanted to be a hero, but with a child’s life in danger, he was determined to do everything he could. The two performed CPR on Davis for over 12 minutes until paramedics arrived and took over.

The Red Cross encourages everyone to be trained in CPR and first aid, because, you just never know when you will be in a situation where a life may depend on you.

The ceremony will be held tomorrow afternoon, April 20th, at 1 at the Mac N. Seitz Baseball and Softball facility in Kansas City.
