The Kansas Department of Emergency Management and Franklin County recently held a Disaster Response Drill in an effort to cover all phases of the county in case of a disaster affecting Ottawa or the surrounding area. County Emergency Management Director Thomas Winter coordinated the event, and for the first time, members of the economic community were involved. He noted that Ottawa is fortunate to have KOFO, as in a state of disaster, the radio may be the only consistent form of communication for the public.
