An engineer at Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant had some interesting revelations during the Franklin County Planning Commission Meeting. Numerous people stepped up to speak about a proposed wind farm moratorium……with most saying they want an outright ban, but will go for the moratorium in the meantime. Mark Barraclough of Ottawa, works at Wolf Creek, but spoke to the Commission as a resident. He says a policy called “flex-power” has recently been adopted, in reaction to the intermittent power output of wind farms and solar farms:
The Planning Commission voted seven to one to recommend having a moratorium through the end of 2026…..the only no vote came from Kenzie Singleton, who is also an attorney. She says what the commission is doing is contrary to what the Supreme Court has ruled on moratoriums. She says the county needs to figure out how to regulate wind farms, instead of imposing moratoriums or outright bans.
