Governor Kelly has announced awards of the second round of nearly $50 million in infrastructure and economic development grants. The money is part of the Building A Stronger Economy, or “BASE” Grants. The City of Osawatomie was granted one and a half million dollars to go toward the water and sewer main extension to northland properties in the city.

The Kansas Department of Commerce reviewed more than 400 applications from the first round and more than 100 new applications from the second round. In total, more than $2 billion in funding was requested for the nearly $50 million program, demonstrating both the need for this program and the many opportunities that exist throughout the state.

In round one, in April of 2022, the City of Ottawa received $5 million to go toward improvements to Proximity Park and North Corridor improvements.
