More monies have been made available to help repair or rehabilitate homes, rental properties or co-ops occupied by low and very low-income rural residents. The U. S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development announced the availability of grants to help in those repairs. Approximately $18.5 million is being made available to eligible participants. Eligible applicants include most state or local governmental entities, federally recognized Indian tribes, nonprofit groups and faith-based organizations. The funds may be used for repair or replace electrical wiring, foundations, roofs, insulation, heating systems and water/waste disposal systems, support accessibility, purchase construction.
They are particularly interested in applications that will advance the Biden-Harris Administration priorities to reduce climate pollution and increase resilience to the impact of climate change through economic support to rural communities.
