U. S. Senator,Jerry Moran spoke yesterday, May 16th, on the Senate Floor to recognize National Police Week and remember Kansas law enforcement who passed away in 2022.
National Police Week was established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, and this year runs through Saturday. Franklin County has lost two officers in the line of duty… Captain Robert Cowdin in 1963, and Sheriff Deputy Sam Smithmith in 2020. Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner is expected to speak about National Police Week at this morning’s Ottawa City Commission Meeting. That meeting will be carried live on KOFO this morning at 10:00.
