The City of Ottawa’s Capital Improvement Program includes many projects that won’t bet done for quite a few years, but one that will be completed next year is the automation of the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium Fly Loft. What’s that you ask? Finance Director Melanie Landis describes the project:
The Fly Loft System is a series of wenches and cranks used to lift, or fly, curtains, props and lighting effects. As of now, the wenches are hand cranked by staff and require a lot of muscle strength depending on what is being flown at the time.
