A large number of small rural communities are getting an economic/jobs boost from a new USDA Investment Package. AG Secretary,Tom Vilsak, announced yesterday, May 22, that the USDA will use $394 million through the Rural Development Mission Fund to be used to revive rural America. Much of this week’s announced funding is for projects being done through the Rural Partners Network. Vilsak describes what some of the projects entail:
The money, in the form of loans and grants will help fund 52 projects. For some projects, the money can be used for actual purchase of equipment or construction of facilities. Vilsak says that the investments together will provide assistance and help for nearly 2 million people
