Remember last week when we told you that the Ford Company was removing “AM” radio from their vehicles starting in 2024. Well, it looks like they’ve changed their minds. Following pressure from lawmakers and an uproar from the radio industry, Ford Motor Company announced yesterday they have decided to keep the AM broadcast in their new models.
Lawmakers stated the importance of AM broadcast radio as a part of the emergency alert system, and Ford CEO, Jim Farley, says that may have been the deciding factor. He says anyone who bought a car without the AM component, will get a software update in order to receive it. President of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, Allison Mazzie:
So, for now, Ford owners, you still have your AM radio. Now to convince a few other automakers to keep it. For all the latest news, weather and sports, and up to the minute severe weather coverage, stay tuned to KOFO 1220 AM, and, of course 103.7 FM.
