A very special ceremony at Kalmar yesterday afternoon, May 30th, as the Special Olympic Torch arrived in town from Lawrence. During the ceremony, Kalmar presented a check for $10,000 to the Kansas Special Olympics. Director of Development in Kansas for Special Olympics, Jacob Lamunyon thanked Kalmar for all they do to help the Special Olympic cause:
He added that the donation helps a tremendous amount and it provides many opportunities for the athletes to be able to participate in sports as well as health screenings and other items. The Torch Run continues this morning, leaving Kansas State Bank at 9:00, headed south on Main Street, arriving in Emporia later today.
