The Ottawa High School Wall of Honor is the highest honor bestowed on a graduate of Ottawa High. The Wall of Honor Committee has released this years honorees. They are… Al Keefer, class of 1948, Mike Skidmore, class of 1974, KOFO’s own Derek Chappell, class of 1983, and Ryan Henningsen, class of 1997. OHS Wall of Honor Coordinator, Stella Tharp, made a personal visit to Al Keefer’s home to inform him of the nomination. Here’s that conversation:

Congratulations to all! The inductees will be honored at a Banquet and Ceremony at the OHS Performing Arts Center on September 14th, and formally inducted at the OHS Home Football Game September 15th. For ticket information contact Ottawa High School.

The Ottawa High school Wall of Honor was created in the Spring of 1997. The program began as an outgrowth of the OHS Renaissance Program, created by OHS math teacher, Gary Kuntz. Kuntz presented the proposal for the Wall of Honor to the Ottawa High School Principal, District Superintendent, OHS Student Council and the USD 290 School Board of Education. With approval from these groups, the Wall of Honor became the highest honor Ottawa High School can bestow upon a graduate.
