Senator Jerry Moran spoke yesterday at a ceremony commemorating the 79th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in France. The annual ceremony honors the nearly ten thousand American soldiers buried in Normandy and pays tribute to the largest and most ambitious military operation in modern history, planned and executed under the leadership of a farm boy from Abilene, Kansas, Dwight Eisenhower:
Moran paid tribute to Kansas native Colonel Ollie Reid and his son, Ollie Reid Junior who are both buried together at the Normandy American Cemetery.
