With the warmer weather, more people are getting out to enjoy it, and some people come out at night to burglarize cars and steal valuables left in them. The Ottawa Police Department is requesting that you report anything that might be just a little suspicious to them immediately so they can investigate. He also emphasized the importance of keeping vehicles locked and anything of valuable out of sight. A huge majority of vehicle burglaries are in vehicles that are unlocked, many with the keys in them. Even if you have never had a problem before, don’t make it easy to become a victim of a crime of opportunity.
