The City of Osawatomie is considering cutting ties with “Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary” after an inspection at the Osawatomie Pound found numerous issues at the city owned facility. Always and $10,000 for a new air conditioner, due it’s failing and the temperatures rising quickly. The funds were raised, but many wondered why the cost was not being covered by the city, as they own the facility.

The inspection by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s division of Animal Health found the shelter’s cages were dilapidated, most 25 to 30 years old. At tonight’s City Council Meeting, City Manager, Mike Scanlon, says he will recommend the city end its partnership with Always and Furever. The meeting tonight is at 6:30 at Memorial Hall.
