The latest Consumer Price Index shows food price inflation slowing to a crawl, prices in some areas are creeping up slightly, but many items are starting to come down in price. One of those in particular is eggs. USDA Economist, Megan Sweitzer, says prices rose last month only one tenth of a percent:


One major reason for that is there hasn’t been any major outbreaks of bird flu in commercial egg laying flocks. At one point last year, eggs were nearly $6 a dozen. Last week, eggs in Ottawa were selling for $1.29 at one grocery store.
