Great Southern Bank wants it’s customers to be aware of a scam that has impacted several customers. Customers have received a text or email claiming to be from Great Southern regarding a fraudulent or nonexistent transaction. When a customer replies, they receive a response saying their debit card has been closed and to call a given number. Once called, the scammer identifies as a Great Southern associate and asks the customer for personal information.
Great Southern wants it’s customers to know they will never call you and ask for personal information…remember, they already have it. They will never ask anyone to provide a card number or pin, even if you call them. If you receive a call from Great Southern, hang up and call them back using the number on the back of your card. They says text scams are very common and Americans lost over $300 million last year. If you do fall victim, take action immediately. Call the number on your card and let them know what has happened.
