The city of Garnett approved some major changes to their Community Revitalization Program back in February to include more people and properties for the benefits of the program. It seems now that other communities within Anderson County are also upgrading their plans. Anderson County Development Agency Director, Julie Turnipseed with more information:
Anderson County Commissioners, USD 365 Board Members and Garnett Commissioners unanimously approved the changes. Under the new guidelines, commercial properties would have a 10 year tax abatement, residential properties will have seven years. This will include the entire city limits of Garnett. Turnipseed says the more properties available for revitalization, the better the communities will look for interested businesses.
