The Forest Park Swimming Pool was drained Tuesday night, June 20th, after a major fecal incident occurred that afternoon. The nature of the incident was in solid form and in order clean and disinfect the pool sufficiently, the pool was drained. The fear was this type of contamination can contain parasites like cryptosporidium that are easily transmitted, posing a health risk if ingested. ORC Director, Levy Meyer says you might be surprised how much water a person ingests while at the pool:
The pool is refilling and after getting the chemical levels back up to safe levels the pool will reopen. Meyers says anyone that was in the first session of swimming lessons will have their fees refunded. He says the second session should start as scheduled.
