Though gas prices are creeping up, they are doing so much more slowly than 2022. According to AAA’s” Shawn Steward there may be a spike in demand around the Fourth of July travel weekend, but should remain stable throughout the summer. Area counties were mostly below the statewide average…Franklin $3.16, Anderson $3.03, Miami $3.39, Linn $3.23, Osage: 3.23, and Douglas $3.24.

Steward says we are still about $1.40 less per gallon now than we were one year ago and that’s significantly cheaper to take those summer road trips. The average cost of gas in Kansas is $3.58 per gallon. As of this morning, June 26th, in Ottawa, a gallon of gas ranged from $3.09 to $3.13. Kansas is still in the ten lowest states for gas prices overall and no county in the state is even up to the National average.
