If you were out and about yesterday evening, June 25th, you may have noticed an unusual number of classic cars out cruising Main Street. Cars, trucks and motorcycles from the 19-teens to 2023 were out in force yesterday. A Facebook event called ”Let’s Cruise Ottawa” brought over 300 vehicles to Forest Park for a mini car show and cruise.
The event was posted by Carey James about a week ago and people from Franklin County and as far away as Topeka and Kansas City responded. From a 1919 Model T to a brand new purple and gray Dodge Charger and everything in between, the vehicles were lined up on the East Road of Forest Park and out cruising. Dozens of people lined Main Street to watch the classics and the newer models go by.
It wasn’t the Old Mary River Run, by any means; but, as on participant called it…it was a huge turnout for a throw together Sunday evening event. Several of those participating said they would like to see “Let’s Cruise Ottawa” as a monthly event leading up to the car show in September.
