Governor Laura Kelly and the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund have announced funding awards to 52 statewide organizations for the purpose of creating new, sustainable, high quality licensed child care slots across the state and accelerating capacity-building in support of families, businesses, and economic development. Only one of those awards were toward a daycare in the KOFO listening area. USD 367, Osawatomie and the United Way of Miami County received an award.
The overall program provides over $43 million to the 52 organizations. The grants were awarded based upon a competitive request for proposal process that yielded 105 applications totaling over $117 million. Expect to see more funding available as the region struggles with availability of affordable daycare facilities.
