Two injury accidents, 30 minutes apart Friday morning, July 7th, in Franklin County. The first at 7:55 in the 2700 block of I-35. Fifty year-old Juan Avila, of Kansas City was traveling southbound when he struck a deer that entered the roadway. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to AdventHealth Ottawa for minor injuries sustained in the crash.
The second crash happened at 8:25 that morning. Nineteen year-old Gracie Howard was traveling northbound on old 59 hOld 59 Highway when she failed to yield to the vehicle in front of her, which was yielding to another vehicle attempting to make a left-hand turn. Howard rear ended a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Trina Hamm, of Ottawa, who was transported to Advent Health Ottawa for injuries sustained in the crash, Howard was uninjured.
