We’ve all heard of competitive gaming and how some people and groups go all out staying up all hours of the night competing with other gamers from all over the world. The competition was on recently as members of the Louisburg Senior Center took on the Paola Senior Center in a Wii Bowling Tournament, making the pins fly for over three hours. The trophy all the bowlers were after was the Ruby Red Slipper Trophy, going to the player with the highest overall score. That went to a gamer named Bertie from Louisburg who bowled a 208 in the final round to win the tourney. Bertie, who turned 94 recently said “that’s not bad for an old lady”.
Sixteen bowlers signed up for the tournament, some never having played a video game before, so getting used to the controller was a challenge at first. The next tournament set for August and Paola members say they are determined to get back the coveted Ruby Red Slipper Trophy.
