A couple years ago, the Ottawa Library purchased property at 17th and Elm. The goal is to build a new modern day library that would better suit the needs of Ottawa. While that dream has not become a reality yet, part of the fundraising effort for a new building involves rent from the two houses currently on the site. That question asked by Ottawa City Commissioner, Mike Skidmore, came up at a recent Ottawa City Commission Study Session:
May 2018, the library purchased the property and is currently in the process of raising several million dollars to construct the new building. Those efforts are ongoing.
