The Ottawa Police Department and other law enforcement in the area continue to deal with the effects of the drug fentanyl. Ottawa police reported another overdose recently caused by the drug and used narcan to revive the person. According to reports, that person had stopped breathing and CPR was being performed. One dose of narcan was administered and when it was not successful, a second dose was given and a heartbeat reestablished. Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner:
Very small amounts of fentanyl are deadly. Weingartner urges people not be become a statistic. He says their number one priority is the lives of the people in the community and any use of illegal drugs at this time poses a threat from fentanyl.
