Back in 2013, the city of Ottawa, understanding the need for high speed internet in the school district, Ottawa University, City offices and some local businesses built their own high speed internet network. That network is now drawing interest from larger companies, such as Vyve, AT&T and two additional providers, who may want to buy or lease the cities network. City Manager, Brian Silcott explains what that would do for the people of Ottawa:

One estimate is that the network is worth a million dollars or more. The City Commission will continue to discuss the issue at upcoming Study Sessions and regular meetings.
