The Old Depot Museum in Ottawa will be the host of a very special exhibit for the next few weeks. Ottawa has been selected as one of only six towns in Kansas for the Traveling Smithsonian Institute Exhibition called “Voices and Votes”. Historical Society Director, Diana Staresinic-Deane, says it arrived Tuesday, August 15th, and it looks at the history of democracy in America and is unlike any other exhibit:
She adds that there will be a secondary exhibit from a Franklin County perspective, with stories, pictures and artifacts about voting rights and democracy in our area. The Smithsonian Exhibit Grand Opening is Saturday, August 19th, at the Old Depot. It will be in town for several weeks.
