Osawatomie is making a push toward gaining a National Park designation, and now Washington, D. C.. knows about it. In July, a letter signed by U. S. Representative, Sharice Davids, U. S. Senator Jerry Moran and U. S. Senator Roger Marshall was sent to the Director of the National Park Service, requesting that a reconnaissance survey be conducted to explore the feasibility of the National Park designation in Osawatomie. Assistant City Manager, Samantha Moon says they want the National Park Service to assume ownership of the ground and fund with Federal dollars like they do all other National parks:
U. S. Senator Marshal visited the cabin in John Brown Memorial Park recently and promised he would do his part in getting the ball rolling on the reconnaissance survey for the National Park request.
