Kwikom held a groundbreaking ceremony last week to announce their commitment to bring high speed fiber internet to Ottawa. Work has already begun on North Davis Road. The groundbreaking was held at the Franklin County Courthouse. Though Kwikom is new to Ottawa, they have been present in Franklin County for going on a decade now as they have worked with some of the rural areas in our community.
Kwikom’s nearly $12 million capital investment in Franklin County will provide almost 200 miles of fiber-optic infrastructure to connect over 7,200 homes, businesses, anchor institutions, and agricultural facilities in the county. This expansion will fully serve every home in Ottawa, Wellsville, Pomona and Williamsburg as well as much of the surrounding rural community. They will offer packages ranging from 100 megabytes per second to 2 gig bytes per second for residents and up to 10 gig bytes per second for businesses and hope to begin serving the area before the end of 2023.
