Charities and tummies alike will swell up this weekend, September 8th, when area BBQ teams set up in Greeley City Park for the 23rd Annual Greeley Smoke Off, today and tomorrow. The event is a chance to sample BBQ from numerous entrants in the competition, which boasts over $3,000 in BBQ team prizes, and to show your appreciation by donating to those cookers’ listed charities. Organizers say the event has raised $120,000 for area charities since its inception. Dinner and start time is at 5:00 this evening with live music by Trevor Holman-who, by the way will be on stage as the opening act at the Cornstalk Concert on the Hill in a couple weeks. He will be on stage from 5:00 to 8:00. At 8, Silver Bullet takes the stage. Events on Saturday begin at noon with music through the afternoon by Wilsons D.J. Service. All kinds of kids games and concessions will be on tap throughout the afternoon. Organizers encourage everyone to bring lawn chairs, and coolers are welcome, but, no glass bottles please.
