In the “things that make you say hmmm”….file.
My grandson was putting pickles on his hamburger the other day and asked me a question I couldn’t answer. “Papa, why doesn’t the pickle jar label have the word pickle on it?” What? I asked! Sure enough, pickle isn’t mentioned anywhere on the jar. Why??? Dills, spears, chips, wholes, halves. When asked why the word isn’t on the front of the jars, four major companies provided nearly the same simple answer: they feel the word “pickle” isn’t necessary on pickles packaged in clear glass containers. Makes sense. When you pick up a jar, you can clearly see they are pickles and they want to use limited label space describing the type or shape of the pickles inside.
But, when I see a package of hamburger buns, again see through packaging, Isee the buns and know what they are, but it still tells me on the package, as do every other product that comes in see through packaging. Seems weird. In this day and age it seems almost conspiracy minded. Companies just “choosing” to not label their product as pickles just seem, odd.
