KOFO GOOD PEOPLE AWARD KATHY BURGOON
Another edition of the kofo good people award. The Ottawa Fire Department observed the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on America yesterday, and one of their favorite people was on hand to help them celebrate, with food. Every single year, minus one, since the attacks, Kathy Burgoon, of Ottawa, affectionately known as Gramma Burgoon in her neighborhood, has blessed the Ottawa Fire Department with homemade taco soup every September 11th. She started the tradition in 2002 and has only missed one time, due to being in the hospital. The fire department looks forward to Kathy and her gift every year and have nicknamed her “the taco soup lady” Kathy says she does it out appreciation for all firefighters and to give them some cheer on a somber day.
Kathy is also known to bake cookies and make treats for the kids in her neighborhood and hand them out occasionally, and the kids know that all they have to do is ring the bell outside her door to get some praise, sweet talk and a little treat. Thank you Kathy for all you do. For her actions, she is awarded the KOFO Good People Award, an honorary award given to good people who do good things. Congratulations Kathy, the world needs more good people like you!
