The subject of foreign-owned land came up during the regular Franklin County Farm Bureau’s Annual Legislative Dinner and Farm Tour. The event was held at Aunt B’s Sunflower Farm northwest of Ottawa. Kansas Farm Bureau State Affairs Manager, Claudia Hissong noted that finding out how much land is owned by foreign parties is sometimes difficult to find:
Hissong says leases for renewable energy projects can get included in foreign ownership statistics, but to find accurate figures, these have to be excluded to arrive at a true foreign ownership data point.
