The Ol’ Marias River Run Car Show and Cruise Night was held this past weekend,September 16th-17th– an awesome event. Have you ever wondered who started the show 57 years ago? It was none other than a local automotive legend, Roger Ward and a few friends who were into restoring classic cars. They went to some little shows around the area and decided Ottawa needed a show. Roger says that first show brought about 150 cars to Forest Park. To say it has grown a bit, would be an understatement. With nearly two thousand cars at the show this weekend. Ward says having a car is all about the ‘cool factor’:
He adds that Forest Park is the perfect place to have a show and he looks forward to the day when 3,000 cars are in the show. So far the record number has been in the 25th year when just over two thousand 400 cars were registered. This year the number was 1,480.
