The Ottawa City Commission was all set to act on a new ordinance governing chickens but then there was a last minute hang-up. During discussion of provisions of the ordinance, City Manager Brian Silcott, Zach Clayton and others talked over setback requirements:
At one point, some of the commissioners wanted to table the chicken ordinance, but then went ahead and approved it in its current version. They noted they will watch closely the response from the public regarding the keeping of chickens.
