Governor Kelly is gearing up for her push on the Kansas Legislature to expand Medicaid in the upcoming Legislative Session. The U. S. Census Bureau recently released its American Community Survey One Year Estimates, indicating nearly 250,000 Kansans lack health insurance. Kelly announced late last week it is her top priority and kicked off her “Healthy Workers, Healthy Economy” tour. She says Medicaid expansion would give thousands of working Kansans access to affordable health care.

She says that is unacceptable and that if the state broadened enrollment of uninsured adults in KanCare, thousands of lower-income families would be provided with health care options. Kelly estimates that number to be 150,000 and unlock billions in federal aid.
