Cedar Cove Feline Conservatory and Education Center outside of Louisburg is about to expand. Their mission is to educate everyone about the big cats in the world and the need to protect all endangered species on the earth. For more than 20 years, Cedar Cove has been the home of lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars, and even wolves. However, the 10 acre space has been a bit crowded, until now. Cedar Cove representatives are finalizing a plan to expand, thanks to acquiring 126 adjoining acres. The focus now is on the initial expansion, adding an education center, a vet building and habitat expansion.

The land was purchased from the original land donor, George Criswell, who is also on the Board. For now, visitors get to take an incredibly educational tour and see Isis, the female bengal tiger, blind in one eye, and Jai, a tiger that was in a circus for a long time and can stand on her back legs, and oddly enough had never seen grass until coming to Cedar Cove, plus many other animals.
