An unusual and dangerous situation on I-35 near Wellsville Monday night, September 25th, left four cars wrecked and fortunately, no one injured. At about 8:20 that evening, a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Jaeda Fletcher, of Ottawa was traveling south on I-35 when she was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Claudio Quinones Garcia, of Ottawa. A couple minutes later, a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Rebecca Dodd, of Williamsburg, struck the rear end of Quinones-Garcia’s car. Someone from the previous crash was out of their vehicle and on the roadway when 24-year-old Merrick Son, from Wichita attempted to dodge that person who was on the road. He swerved and struck a mile marker post.
Four vehicles and no injuries. Law enforcement asks that if you are involved in an accident on the highway, don’t get out of your vehicle, as that could lead to further injury. If you do get out, get as far off the roadway as possible to avoid being struck by other vehicles approaching the scene.
