The League of Women Voters in Kansas wants to alert Kansans about a hearing of the Special Elections Committee of the Kansas Legislature being held today and tomorrow, September 27th and 28th. The only people allowed to speak at this hearing are people claiming that there was voter fraud in the last election. President of the League of Women Voters, Martha Pint reassure Kansans that the last election was secure, with no significant evidence of voter fraud that would have changed the outcome. The organization questions why no individual or organization is being allowed to refute what they call “conspiracy theories” that will be aired at the legislative hearing.

Also, a reminder that the deadline to register to vote is October 17th. You can register at “k-s-votes. org” or call your county Elections Office or County Clerk to have them mail you a registration form. You can also go to that office to register in person. Pint says voting is an important responsibility, and the only way to ensure the effectiveness of citizen participation in, and the continuation of, our Democracy itself.
