Garnett City Manager, Travis Wilson, reports on three current projects. Hs says that the Cedar Valley Reservoir Spillway Project is moving along quickly and the contractor says the project is nearly 80% complete. The auxiliary spillway suffered damage from flooding in 2018 and 2019. The repairs being done now will be permanent and will harden and strengthen the spillway to eliminate future damage and erosion.
Wilson says the airport project is still in land-acquisition mode with ongoing meetings and negotiations with landowners. Once that’s done, they will move into design and construction phases.
Wilson says the city continues to be proactive in building a new water treatment plant and have had several meetings with the engineer on design and timeline. The water testing is being done on the raw water system so the plant is designed correctly to keep costs down.
