The city of Osawatomie going full force on getting the areas surrounding John Brown Park and the Adair Cabin as a full blown National Park. Officials say that all of John Brown’s activities that led to his going to Harpers Ferry and attempting to lead a slave revolt and eventually getting caught and hung for his actions, started in the Osawatomie area. Former City Manager, Mike Scanlon is leading the cause and says the way history portrays John Brown is from the white man’s perspective:
Scanlon say it’s a long process, but if approved would make Osawatomie a destination location for history buffs, particularly surrounding events that led to the Civil War.
