When the Franklin County Commission approved closing the Juvenile Detention Center in Ottawa, no one could say for sure if or how much money it would save. Well county officials now have a good idea. County Administrator, Derek Brown gave some specifics to the County Commission:
County officials say because juveniles are being incarcerated less and less, the Detention Center simply wasn’t needed, and any juveniles needing confinement are sent to Lawrence.
