The Paola family pool will look a lot different when it opens next summer. Paola City Council members, have accepted a bid from Royal Construction, LLC to renovate the Paola family pool for a total cost of just under $2 million. After repairing some safety concerns in the mechanical room before the start of the 2023 pool season, the large-scale renovation work was held off until the end of the pool season. The improvements will include a new slide, as well as spray features in the zero-depth entry area. There also will be a new retaining wall and the bathhouse will be getting a huge makeover.

The repairs will be funded in part by the city’s half cent sales tax that was renewed in 2019 and projected to bring in $12 to $14 million in the next 15 years. The plan calls for the work to be complete before the start of next summers pool season.
