Garnett City Manager, Travis Wilson, gets asked a lot of questions. One of the most asked questions he has received over the past several months is….are we getting a new swimming pool? His response…not right now. He explains that the city simply doesn’t have the funding available for a new swimming pool. However, to follow up on that point, he says that doesn’t mean they are not looking at ways to get funding for a new swimming pool. Wilson says he has spoken to the Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission and they have informed him that there is some grant funding coming up in the next several months, but swimming pools are not listed as an eligible funded project. But, there have been other cities reaching out to the planning commission asking about swimming pool funding. So, his answer to the question is no new pool…yet.
