The proposed $40 million Bond Issue facing the patrons of USD 368, Paola, would be a game changer for Paola High School. The biggest change would be the conversion of the existing weight room into space for career and technical programs, along with the relocation of the weight room to the nearby multi-purpose room. The Multi-Purpose Room would also see the addition of a second floor, which would house the wrestling practice mats. In many career and technical programs, students travel to different schools, like HVAC, welding and automotive training, go to Garnett and welding and construction classes go to Fort Scott Community College Campus. Those would be kept in house and there is hope that electrical training can be offered.
Other renovations would include upgrades to lighting, flooring and heating and air conditioning systems; as well as repairs to settlement cracks in the academic wing. Paola High would get a large portion of the $40 million Bond, almost $14.5 million.
