Ground was broken for a new fire station in Overbrook Saturday, October 21st. Osage County Volunteer Fire District #4 volunteer firefighters and Board of Directors say the new fire station has been in the works for years. The new station will house many of the district’s trucks as well as their ambulance. The new facility will also have room for training and events for the community, including an annual open house each summer. Fire Chief, Russell Mitchell says they wanted a new building because they had far outgrown the current one in Overbrook.

Osage County Fire District #4 noted the total project will cost about $1.3 million and is projected to be done sometime this year. Osage County Fire District #4 covers emergency services for a large portion of northeast Osage County and even a small portion of Douglas County. So far, they have responded to 180 fire and medical emergency calls this year.
