We’ve all seen people blowing all the leaves and freshly mowed grass from their yard out into the street. The other day, I was reminded of the dangers, clippings and leaves can cause for bicyclists and motorcyclists.
The City of Ottawa will send notices to people that do, warning them and encouraging them not to do it again. Public Works Director Michael Haeffele tells us about the hazards involved.
An MS4 Permit authorizes Cities, Counties, or other Governmental Entities to discharge storm- water collected by their storm sewer systems to waters of the United States. Haeffele says if someone continues to blow grass and yard debris into the street after being warned, fines could be issued for the offense.
