A man who drove his truck through the lobby of the Elizabeth Layton Center this past weekend was in court. Albert Johnson Junior became upset with something at The Elc and drove his truck into the building, coming to a stop completely inside the building’s lobby. According to Franklin County Attorney Brandon Jones, he is charged with felony criminal damage to property and criminal trespass with other charges possible. He appeared in court via Zoom. His bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety at his first appearance before a judge yesterday morning.
Jones says that conditions of the bond include not being on Elc grounds; no contact with employees or eyewitnesses; and no possession of firearms, ammunition, alcohol or illegal drugs. He is also not allowed to drive or operate any type of motor vehicle, must obtain a psychological evaluation, and be monitored via gps. Fortunately no injuries were reported in the incident.
